Uganda has thousands upon thousands of orphaned children. Most of them have been orphaned as a result of the current HIV/AIDS epidemic in Uganda. The volunteers play a key role in putting orphanage homes and ensuring that they can operate effectively. Volunteer activities include child care, teaching, playing with children, organizing outings and games, music, washing of children, eashing clothes, food preparation, making beds and feeding the children.
There are many socially conscious organizations focused on the care of these orphaned children, striving to provide them with shelter, education and nutrition, while simultaneously supplying them with much-needed love, companionship and encouragement. The programs are also offering a solid foundation to meet all their needs and nurture their interests, goals and ultimately make their dreams for a brighter future come to fruition. The majority of these orphanages aiming to care for these children and offer home-like environments, education and skill-training opportunities are understaffed and underfunded. More Volunteers in Uganda can be the key to offering these vitally important programs to this generation in drastic need of guidance, education and compassion.
